In this regard, Maris Recruitment RO Group Srl accepts as the most important is the right for safe and secure work place in accordance with the safety standards:
- The right to clear and fair hiring terms and conditions and employment agreement.
- The right to safe and secure working place that complies with safety standards
- The right to decent living conditions and working environment on board the vessel.
- The right to health protection, medical care, welfare measures and other forms of social protection
Furthermore, Maris Recruitment RO Group Srl confirms its commitment to ensuring that
- Each candidate seafarer, who is looking for employment through Maris Recruitment RO Group Srl shall be treated with respect to all applicable national and international laws, rules and regulations, paying special attention to compliance with MLC 2006.
- Mediation Services, offered by Maris Recruitment RO Group Srl to any seafarer, looking for employment are free of any charges to seafarers, related to their employment engagement.
- No fees or other charges for seafarer recruitment or placement or for providing employment to seafarers are borne directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by the seafarer, other than the cost of the seafarer obtaining the national seafarer's book and personal travel documents, licenses and certificates for special training for working on board, as required by STCW and employing company including the cost of visas.
- Any costs, which the seafarer might be expected to bear in the recruitment process, are clearly publicised.
- No means, mechanisms, or lists intended to prevent or deter seafarers from gaining employment for which they are qualified, are maintained by Maris Recruitment RO Group Srl.
- Personal details of the seafarers, whether sailing or ashore are kept confidential with due regards to the right to privacy of the seafarer and following respective laws.
- Maris Recruitment RO Group Srl is contactable in an emergency at all hours.
- No underage persons will work on a ship.
- Requests for information or advice by families of seafarers while the seafarers are at sea are dealt with promptly, sympathetically and at no cost.
- Seafarers are informed of their rights and duties under their Seafarers' Employment Agreement well in advance prior to their employment. The Employment Agreement gives full information about, but not limited to:
- Wages Including Amount of Paid Annual Leave;
- Duration of Employment;
- Position of Employment, Including Job Description;
- Shipowner’s/Employer’s Full Contact Details;
- Port of Hire/Joining;
- Hours of Work and Hours of Rest;
- Entitlement to Leave;
- Repatriation;
- Compensation in the Event of Ship’s Loss or Foundering;
- Living Standards on board;
- Medical Care during Engagement;
- Sailing into Warlike Areas;
- Safety at Work and Personal Protective Equipment
- Seafarers are given adequate time to examine their employment agreements before and after they are signed and for them to receive copy of the agreement. The seafarers' employment agreement is signed by both the seafarer and Maris Recruitment RO Group Srl as agent for and on behalf of the owner of the vessel and the company. A copy of the Employment Agreement is given to seafarer.
- Seafarers are informed about particular conditions and of the particular shipowner's policies related to their employment.
- Seafarers recruited and placed are trained, qualified, competent, certified and hold valid documents necessary for the job concerned. The submitted certificates and documents are sighted and checked to ensure they are not fraudulently obtained.
- Employment references of the seafarer are verified by contacting the authorized person with details provided by the candidate.
- All seafarers recruited and placed undergo medical examination at a recognized and licensed Medical Centre to ensure they are medically fit to perform their duties and hold a valid medical certificate.
- Maris Recruitment RO Group Srl keeps up-to date register of all our seafarers’ placements, up-to-date list of ships and company contact details where our seafarers are placed
- All necessary travel information of embarkation and disembarkation are provided to seafarers to protect them from being stranded in a foreign port. Company is responsible to repatriate seafarers if stranded in foreign port/place.
- Seafarers' complaints are examined and responded through a proper mechanism.
- Seafarers are offered employment based on all available vacancies advertised in local media, seafarers are not reserved for engagement on a particular ship or ships of particular owner.
- Maris Recruitment RO Group Srl does not use any means, mechanisms, or lists (blacklists) intended to prevent or deter seafarers from gaining employment for which they are qualified. Recruitment is carried out without any discriminatory policy or bias based on including, but not limited to, race, colour, sex, religion, political opinion or social origin.
- Seafarer's Employment Agreement is in accordance with applicable regulations, MLC requirements and applicable collective bargaining agreement.
- Seafarers are advised on possible problems of signing on a ship that flies the flag of a state which has not ratified the MLC 2006.
- Company reserves its right to report to appropriate authorities about cases of significant incompetence, criminal acts and serious breaches of discipline during the seafarer's employment period. Reporting can be done after thorough case analyse only.
